Sharq Taronalari Music Festival

It is nearly time. From 25th-30th August 2019 the international music festival "Sharq Taronalari" (English: Melody of the East) will be held in Samarkand. The festival of folklore and folk music has been held every two years since 1997 and is one of the largest events in Central Asia.

Two years ago I was fortunate enough to attend an evening of the spectacle. It was just amazing! The scenery is unique, because the festival is not just somewhere in Samarkand, but on the Registan Square!

Although the festival takes place in August and it is very hot in Uzbekistan, I recommend visiting the festival. Not only because of the breathtaking scenery, but also because you enjoy musical performances that you rarely or never hear in your country. For example, groups came from South Korea, Ukraine and Turkmenistan.

In my video (below), you can see the "Gina Chavez Band", who also played an Uzbek song two years ago. The Uzbeks loved it and started to dance. :)

Bald ist es soweit. Vom 25.-30.08.2019 findet das internationale Musikfestival "Sharq Taronalari" (deutsch: Melodie des Ostens) in Samarkand. Das Festival für Folklore- und Volksmusik findet seit 1997 alle zwei Jahre statt und gehört zu den grössten Veranstaltungen in ganz Zentralasien.

Vor zwei Jahren hatte ich das Glück einen Abend dem Spektakel beizuwohnen. Es war einfach nur toll! Die Kulisse ist einzigartig, denn das Festival findet nicht einfach irgendwo in Samarkand statt, sondern auf dem Registan-Platz!

Obwohl das Festival im August stattfindet und es da sehr heiss ist in Usbekistan, empfehle ich den Besuch des Festivals. Nicht nur wegen der atemberaubenden Szenerie, sondern auch da man in den Genuss musikalischer Darbietungen kommt, die man bei uns selten oder gar nicht hört. Bei mir kamen beispielsweise Gruppen aus Südkorea, Ukraine und Turkmenistan.

In meinem Video (oben), seht ihr die "Gina Chavez Band", die vor zwei Jahren auch ein usbekisches Lied spielte. Die Usbeken fanden's super und fingen an zu tanzen. :)
